mountainside funeral home hope bcMountainside Funeral Home and Crematorium opened for business in Hope, BC in October of 1999, at which time the owners were the husband and wife team, Robert (Bob) and Sylvia Bonin. Since then we have served families from across the lower mainland all the way up to Lillooet, BC. We have endeavored to provide our clients with the best possible care, professionalism and discretion available in the Funeral Service industry. We have often been told by our clients that our small staff and welcoming atmosphere have provided them with a calm and friendly experience. Many have even said that we are now considered a part of their family and that they have made a new friend in us. Not only do we wish to serve all faiths with dignity and respect, we also treat our clients as though they ARE our family. In this way we know we are giving you our all.

In May of 2002 the Bonins’ took on Miss Rebekah Millier as part-time help. In 2003 she started her two year Funeral Director and Embalmer Apprenticeship and graduated in 2005 with an Academic Achievement Award for her ‘dedication & perseverance of academic studies’ sponsored by SCI (Canada) and issued by the Funeral Service Association of BC. Miss Millier has been a friendly face here ever since.

When the Bonin’s decided to sell due to their impending retirement, the Caring Group approached them and the sale became a reality. Since December of 2008 the Caring Group has taken over the general management of the company, but has appointed Miss Millier as the managing director for the day to day duties. Mr. Darin Currington, who worked for us on a part-time basis previous to the sale, has now been hired on full-time. Mr. Currington has over 10 years of experience in the funeral service industry and is a recipient of the ‘Restorative Art Award of Excellence’ issued by The Dodge Chemical Company (Canada).

Miss Millier and Mr. Currington are now the friendly faces of Mountainside Funeral Home and we will continue to provide all of our clients with a positive experience.
